Terms of Service

Last updated: January 2026

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing and using Glyc, operated by Bennernet Ventures LLC ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to any part of these terms, you may not use our Service.

2. Use License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Glyc for personal, non-commercial purposes only. You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal activity or to violate any laws
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or hack the Service
  • Upload malware, viruses, or harmful code
  • Use automated bots or scrapers (except for accessing your own recipes)
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users
  • Resell or redistribute access to the Service

Recipe Extraction Technology

Our Service uses AI-powered extraction to capture structured recipe data (ingredients, cooking steps, and nutritional information) from publicly available websites. This extraction is designed to capture only factual, non-copyrightable recipe components without reproducing creative narratives, personal stories, or copyrighted descriptive text from source websites. We automatically store and display source URLs to provide attribution to original recipe creators.

3. User Accounts

If you create an account through Google OAuth authentication:

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • You agree to keep your account information current and accurate
  • You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account
  • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account

4. Content Ownership

Your Recipes

You retain ownership of recipes you submit to Glyc. By submitting recipes (whether extracted from websites or manually entered), you grant Glyc a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, display, and make available your recipes to all Glyc users through the Service.

Public Sharing

All recipes submitted to Glyc are publicly visible to other users of the Service. By submitting a recipe, you acknowledge and agree that it will be accessible to the Glyc community. We display source attribution with each recipe to credit the original creator.

User Representations

You represent and warrant that:

  • You have the right to submit any recipe content you provide
  • Your submissions consist of factual recipe information (ingredients, measurements, cooking steps) and do not infringe third-party intellectual property rights
  • You will not submit copyrighted creative content, narrative stories, or proprietary recipe descriptions from cookbooks, blogs, or other protected sources

Glyc Content

All software, designs, features, proprietary algorithms, nutritional calculations, and documentation remain our exclusive property.

Personal Content (Paid Features)

Personal notes, comments, ratings, and recipe collections you create remain your private content. You grant Glyc the right to store and display this content to you and, for ratings and comments, to make them visible to other users as part of the community features.

4.5 Recipe Data and Copyright

Extraction Methodology

Glyc extracts and structures factual recipe information including:

  • Ingredient names and quantities
  • Cooking steps and procedures
  • Preparation and cooking times
  • Nutritional data and glycemic load calculations

Our extraction process does not capture or reproduce creative narrative content, personal stories, cooking tips with creative expression, or copyrighted descriptive text from source websites.

Factual Information

Recipe ingredients and basic procedural steps are generally considered factual information not subject to copyright protection. However, we respect the intellectual property of recipe creators and food bloggers. Our extraction is intended for personal nutritional analysis and meal planning purposes.

Source Attribution

We provide source attribution for all extracted recipes by displaying the original URL. Users are encouraged to visit source websites for the complete recipe experience, including the creator's narrative, photos, tips, and additional context.

Copyright Concerns

If you are a recipe creator or copyright holder and believe your copyrighted creative content has been improperly extracted or displayed on Glyc, please contact us immediately at contact@getglyc.com with:

  • The specific recipe URL on Glyc
  • The original source URL
  • Description of the copyrighted content you believe has been infringed

We will promptly investigate and remove any content that infringes valid copyright claims.

User Responsibility

While our extraction technology is designed to capture only factual recipe data, users who manually enter or paste recipes are responsible for ensuring they do not submit copyrighted creative content. Do not manually enter proprietary recipe descriptions, creative cooking narratives, or text from copyrighted cookbooks.

5. Limitation of Liability

Glyc is provided "AS-IS" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

Medical Disclaimer

The nutritional information and glycemic load calculations provided are for educational purposes only and should not be considered medical advice. Always consult with a qualified healthcare professional before making dietary decisions. We are not responsible for any adverse health effects resulting from use of this Service.

Accuracy Disclaimer

Nutritional data is sourced from the Sydney University International GI Database and USDA FoodData Central. Values may vary based on food preparation, brands, and individual items. Our calculations are estimates and may not be accurate for all situations.

We shall not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Loss of data or recipes
  • Service interruptions or downtime
  • Inaccuracies in nutritional or glycemic data
  • Third-party content or links

Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the Service (if any).

6. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Glyc responsibly:

  • Do not submit recipes with intent to harm others (e.g., dangerous ingredients or procedures)
  • Do not use the Service to generate misleading health or nutritional claims
  • Do not submit recipes that you know contain copyrighted creative content, such as proprietary recipe descriptions, narratives, or text from cookbooks or paid recipe services
  • When extracting recipes, use only publicly available recipe sources
  • Do not redistribute extracted recipes commercially for profit or republish them on competing platforms
  • Do not spam the Service with duplicate or low-quality recipe submissions
  • Do not use personal notes, comments, or ratings features to harass, abuse, or harm other users
  • Do not attempt to access other users' private notes or personal recipe collections
  • Follow all applicable laws and regulations
  • Respect the intellectual property rights of recipe creators and source websites

7. Third-Party Services

Glyc uses third-party services:

We are not responsible for these services' terms or content.

Recipe Source Attribution

When you extract recipes from third-party websites, we automatically store and display the source URL with each recipe. This provides attribution to original recipe creators and allows users to access the complete original content. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of third-party recipe sources. If a source website becomes unavailable or changes its content, the original recipe may no longer be accessible through the source link.

8. Paid Features

Glyc may offer paid subscription tiers with enhanced features, including:

  • Personal recipe notes and annotations
  • Private recipe library and collections
  • Ability to rate and comment on recipes

If you purchase a paid subscription:

  • Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled

  • Upon cancellation, you will retain access to paid features through the end of your billing period
  • Your personal notes, comments, and ratings remain accessible if you reactivate your subscription

Content Access

Free users can view all publicly shared recipes and glycemic load calculations. Paid features enhance your personal experience but do not grant exclusive access to recipe content.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

  • Violate these Terms of Service
  • Engage in illegal activity
  • Abuse the Service
  • Pose a security threat

Upon termination, you will lose access to your account, including any personal notes, ratings, or comments. You may request a data export of your personal content within 30 days of termination. Recipes you submitted to the public community may remain visible to other users with source attribution, as they have become part of the shared recipe database.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service at any time. Continued use of Glyc after changes constitutes acceptance of new terms. We will post updates on this page and notify users of significant changes.

11. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by applicable laws. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration or small claims court.
