Send any recipe to Glyc in one click
The Glyc bookmarklet is a bookmark that runs a tiny bit of code instead of opening a site. When you are on a recipe page anywhere on the web, click it and Glyc opens in a new tab and starts calculating that recipe’s glycemic load. No copying, no pasting.
Install it on a computer
- Make sure your bookmarks bar is showing. In Chrome and Edge that is Ctrl+Shift+B (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+B (Mac). In Safari it is View → Show Favorites Bar.
- Drag this button up to your bookmarks bar:Dragging is the only thing that works here — clicking this link on this page would just send Glyc to itself.
- Go to any recipe page and click your new Send to Glyc bookmark.
Install it on a phone or tablet
Mobile browsers will not let you drag a bookmark, so it takes a short detour. This works in Safari on iPhone and iPad, and in Chrome on Android.
- Bookmark this page — any page will do; you are about to overwrite it.
- Copy the code below.
- Open your bookmarks, edit the bookmark you just made, rename it to Send to Glyc, and replace its address with the copied code.
- On a recipe page, open your bookmarks and tap Send to Glyc.
javascript:(function(){window.open('https://getglyc.com/?url='+encodeURIComponent(window.location.href),'_blank');})();What it sends
Only the web address of the page you are looking at. The bookmarklet does not read the page, and it does not run anywhere except when you click it. The analysis then follows the same rules as pasting the link on the homepage — including your monthly analysis allowance.
Some recipe sites block automated readers. If that happens Glyc will tell you and switch to paste mode, and you can copy the recipe text in by hand.
